Storage on the Cheap
I've been buying lots of blueberries at my local farmers market - the season is short, and they're so good - and good for me, too. Last week I bought two crates, since it was the last chance to buy this season.
And then I realized what wonderful storage containers these stacking crates make.
As you can see, they are holding some of my spare office supplies. These stay in cabinets in the garage, so I sure don't need anything fancy.

Great tip, and I love blueberries too!
Jeri,
I do something similar; a local wine boutique has wooden wine crates they resell for $5.00; once in a while, they will give them away--free. Some of the boxes have lids and rope handles; they not only look pretty but they last forever and hold heavy stuff.
In addition, cigar shops have very unique wooden boxes. At our house, we keep our spare change in them, eyelasses in them, remotes in them, etc. The [wooden] cigar boxes come in a variety of shapes and sizes with neat clasps and hinges. I love them for "storage on the cheap."
Geralin, the wine crates and cigar boxes sound great. If you send along some pictures, I'll include them in a follow-up post.
