Writing in the Shower

white board for use in shower

Any fan of David Allen's Getting Things Done knows about the ubiquitous capture tool. David emphasizes that our brains are bad tools for remembering our fleeting thoughts, so we need to always have a place to record them.

Usually that's pretty easy - but what if you are like a member of the Getting Things Done Yahoo! group, who has lots of ideas in the shower? Well then, you could use the erasable shower note tablet. (Unfortunately, it's out of stock right now.) Update on Jan. 15, 2011: There are some in stock right now.

Or follow someone else's suggestion and use Crayola's washable crayons and write directly on the shower wall.

Have glass shower doors? You could try using dry erase markers, as suggested here and here.

Updates after original post:

1. Two people have reported problems with the suction cups on the note tablet: Ellis Godard and Kevin.

2. When this subject was discussed on the David Allen Company forum, Scott Lewis suggested using a diver's slate.

3. I've written another post with more ideas!

That is a really great idea! I always have soooo many thoughts in the shower. I have the hardest time remembering them after the shower too! THANKS!

If you have a glass shower screen even a bar of soap can work as a texta (Australian marker!). Easy clean up too :-)

You're welcome, Sarah! And thanks for the easy and inexpensive suggestion, Lissanne.

I've seen crayon soaps in different colors for kids. They would work well too!

Thanks for the suggestion, Eva. I had never heard of soap crayons, but with a bit of googling I found places to buy them, and sites providing recipes for making your own. Some of them can stain grout, though - so use with caution.

My wife and I are both showerthinkers and use AquaNotes. These are waterproof notepads for the shower. www.myaquanotes.com
