Paris Finds: Storage for Baguettes
Your baguette won't fit into a bread box - so where might you store it? I'd never pondered that until I saw this huche à pain in a store in Paris. Update on June 7, 2014: The store where I saw it no longer has a website.
And of course when I got home I started looking for more options on the web. Here's another huche à pain from Deco Chalet Mantagne.
This huche à pain from artsmaison.com has a crumb drawer.
You can also get your huche à pain in wicker (osier) from collectiondeco.fr.
And here's a round wicker huche à pain from Vannerie de L'auzizière. (This site has many nice baskets, all handmade, to ogle.)
You could get a huche à pain built into your kitchen cabinets, like this one from Meubles Bringer.
Want something very different? Look at the huches à pain from l'art de la branche, painted like buildings. Update on June 7, 2014: The site that had these has disappeared.
And finally, painter and muralist Elisabeth can take your plain huche à pain (or other piece of furniture) and make it a work of art.
