Purse Organizer Found During Flight to Paris (and 8 More)
When I flew to Paris on KLM, I had some new shopping options - not SkyMall! And sure enough, I found an organizing product - the Very Intelligente Pocket, from Tintamar. As you can see from the picture, it's intended to hold your normal handbag contents, and then move from purse to purse as you change your handbag.
There's a whole range of styles and colors. This is the classic VIP, in nylon, with nine pockets. Other version are different styles and have different pockets - and one version is made of leather.
There are vendors in other countries. In the USA, it's Neiman Marcus, which only has one version - and at prices that are quite a bit higher than those in Europe.
Like the idea, but want to consider other products? There's the Pouchee, reviewed by organizers Monica Ricci and Aby Garvey.
There's also this product, called PurseIn.
And there's the Purslip - "the undergarment for your purse" - which comes in three different shapes, and multiple sizes.
Bagmate is yet another handbag organizer.
And organizer Lissanne Oliver alerted me to the Borne Naked Liner.
The purseket is a different style of purse organizer - and the first such product I ever saw.
This product, called PurseNeat, is similar in style.
And finally, Kitt's Krafts on Etsy sells some purse organizers in this second style, made from some lovely fabrics. Update on July 4, 2011: I'm no longer finding this Etsy store.
Update, January 2010: See even more purse organizers!

I'm also kind of fond of my Miche bag
http://www.michebag.com
where you have one handbag and different magnetic covers.
The idea of these organizers are great, but they won't work unless one makes a concentrated effort in placing objects in the soft pockets. What we need is a purse organizer that is stiff and hard and one can just plunk objects in without holding pockets open! Now that would be genius!
Struggler, I'd never heard of the Miche bag- it looks like a neat idea! Thanks for sharing!
LP, I actually found something that looks like what you're asking for. See the Purse Pleaser.
Oops. I just realized that I left my comment on your "related post" instead of this one. The important part was: welcome back!
All of these products look great and I've never encountered a woman who couldn't use help organizing her bag!
Thanks, Cynthia - the trip was lovely, but being home again feel good, too.
Jeri, You're the best. I read your blog daily and it's always inspiring. Thanks for finding the Purse Pleaser.

i got mine at pursein. i absolutely love it. so easy to transfer from one bag to another. my friend loved it too and she bought 20 of them to have on hand for gifts.
Jessica, thanks for writing - it's always nice to hear from someone who is actually using one of the products! I'm glad the pursein is working so well for you.
LP, I used a PurseNeat (pale blue one shown above) and it is has a hard backing that makes it stiff and stand up very well inside the handbag. I can retrieve anything very easily from the pockets and this could be what you are looking for. Hope this helps =)
Anonymous, thank you for sharing your experience with the PurseNeat.
still means i have to put my stuff in the right place the first time... i love the idea of this... i'm just thinking i'm too lazy to deal!
Marla, maybe your purse works for you just the way it is. We don't always need fancy tools, or perfectly organized spaces.
I've gone nuts looking for this VIP pocket thing after my flight from Barcelona on AirFrance... I cannot believe I fell asleep and forgot to get them when I woke up. Other then Neiman Marcus, where can I get this one in the US?
I'm sorry, daffybuttons - Tintamar shows Neiman Marcus as the only online store in the U.S. The only other U.S.listing is a store in Atlanta. The list of retail outlets is here.
Hi Jeri, I found this great pattern to sew your own purse organizer, meaning you can customize this to suit your own needs. Great gift, too! There are three sizes available (different pattern for the largest one.)There is also (another) nice looking wallet pattern. If you can't sew, have a seamstress make this for you.

That's a great addition to this list, PR - thanks for commenting!
This is a fantastic blog! I just found you when doing a search on purse organizers (a little competitive research). I am an organization fanatic and started designing purses that would have easy-to-find places for everything (which turned into sweetbriarstudio.com).
I love all the other products you have reviewed. This is a goldmine site :).
Christie, I'm so glad you're enjoying my blog. Those are some nice purse organizers you have over on Sweetbriar Studio!
Thanks, Jeri, for your kind words. Just wanted to let you know that you are my latest feature on my blog :).
Thank YOU, Christie!
saw these in INSTYLE, bough one for mom. she LOVES it! http://www.joannhuth.com/accessories-collection-transfer-bags-all.html
Wow, yet another option. Thanks for sharing, Lisa!
As a person who does not constantly change handbags I will still be waiting for that handbag that would have all those pockets. Feels kinda stupid to buy something that is essentially a repair kit to item that does not do well the job it was intended to do.
Maybe I will finally just order a custom-made bag. Will most likely be cheaper than "itties". And hey, maybe someone will simply make a cover around one of those handy purse organizers...:)
Check out the purses organizer at
EllyndaDesigns.com It's sturdy (doesn't fold over or cave in) has great large zipper compartment.
Pockets have easy access.
Anonymous, thank you for pointing me to yet another purse organizer, the Get Purse-nal from Ellynda Designs.
Anonymous from Dec. 3, 2009: You may want to look at the Butler Bag.
I am in love with all these purse organizers! I just bought a fabulous new bag that I love - it's just a big old bag with no pockets, no zip compartments - nothing! I love the bag but have been frustrated that I can't find anything. Now that I've found all these, I have another problem!! Which one to get?!?! I am so glad I found this blog - thank you!!
You're very welcome, RZ!
I realize I'm a bit late to this party, but I just bought a purse organizer from Container Store - "in-bag." I like it. It's light-weight. It's got just the right number of pockets for phone, sunglasses, business cards, keys, etc, etc. It fits the bags I use most.
Downsides: it actually requires that I spend more time putting things away than I did in my big loose bag with 2 pockets. (Similar to what someone earlier mentioned.) And it's harder to retrieve my phone when it rings.
But changing bags is quick!
Thank you. This site was so helpful. I found just what I needed.
You are very welcome, Anonymous!
Margaret, the in-bag got some great reviews on The Container Store's web site - but the site now says the product is no longer available.
Jeri, thank you for your blog post!
This was a tremendous help to me.
So glad to hear that, Guinevere!
I use a tool-belt from a hardware store as a purse organizer. It´s lightweight, not soft, and compartmentalizes my bag perfectly.
