I've written about
renting or borrowing instead of buying (for those infrequently used items), but I never knew until today (when I heard it on the radio) that
you can borrow cake pans from the Reed Memorial Library in Ohio. You just don't need an R2D2 cake pan (or any of the other
300+ cake pans in their collction) all that often, so why not borrow it instead of owning one?

oh wow!!! my friend (who bakes cakes for a living) would just ADORE those!!!
ReplyDeleteIm so envious! my kitchen clean up is taking longer than expected but I cleared my half of the office! now to get my hubby to clear his half..(that would prob take longer than anything LOL)..
I actually remember my mom doing this when I was a young a girl. She used to rent cake pans from a place in our mall and then bake our birthday cakes at home!
ReplyDeleteKatrina, thanks for your comment! What a neat childhood memory! And you inspired me to enter rent cake pan into Google, and I see there are a number of businesses that provide that service.
ReplyDeleteAngelia/Cuddly Family, you're continuing to make progress, and that's wonderful. We all find that some jobs take longer than expected!
I am so impressed with your library -- neat idea. In Toronto (where from I originate) we had "toy libraries" in each community which were an awesome place to borrow new games, educational toys for your children and change them up weekly or monthly. Community groups, charities and local stores might consider more things we can share that we don't use everyday. Thanks for the great post.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I had no idea you could borrow cake pans.
ReplyDeleteJoan, I've heard of toy libraries before, but had no idea they were so widespread in Toronto.
