8 Wastebaskets I Found Today
Want a waste can with green credentials? VivaTerra's latest newsletter alerted me to these misprinted waste cans, which are made from misprinted sheet metal. No two are alike! Update on Dec. 27, 2010: VivaTerra doesn't carry these any more.
And that inspired me to look around for other interesting waste cans, which led me to this helmet bin from Design Toscano. [via Splurch] Update on Nov. 21, 2011: I'm no longer finding this on the Design Toscano web site.
For something not as odd but certainly attractive, there's this wastebasket handcrafted by Melody Birdsong-Shubert of Simply Unique Motif. Update on Dec. 27, 2010: This shop has disappeared.
Keith Ravio Designs makes a lovely woven wood wastebasket; there are four different woods included in this one.
And here's a colorful palm woven wastebasket. These are also handmade, with no two being identical.
I've mentioned Talavera pottery wastepaper baskets before, but here's a very different peacock pattern Talavera wastebasket.
Here's another wastebasket that comes to us from Mexico - a tin wastebasket from Texas Gifts Unlimited.
And I'm quite taken with the wastebaskets from Canyon Creek Studios at Acacia Artisans. They have four different options; this is the petroglyph wastebasket.

We just bought a new wastebasket today. The old one was one of those "step on the pedal and the lid lifts" types, but the dog just recently figured out how to use her nose to lift the lid.
ReplyDeleteThis wastebasket was in the bathroom and she was pulling out and eating things that better remain unlisted here! Yuck!
I looked for a basket with a latching lid, but settled for a slightly different style where the lid is set down inside the can and the dog can't lift it.
Keeping the dog from scattering trash around is one good way to declutter!
Pet-driven product decisions - I sure relate to that one!
ReplyDeleteThe Coolhunting.com blog found this prototype shaped like a house:

As always I love your lists.
Allison, that is one cool trashcan - thanks for sharing! I couldn't get your link to work, but I found it here.
