Could You Use a Card Cubby?

holder for gift cards - in three colors

I'm curious - how many of you have enough gift cards, frequent buyer cards and such that you could use something like this for your purse, your briefcase, or your car?

It measures 3 inches by 5 inches, and holds about 80 cards.

My first reaction was to dismiss this because it would not be useful to me, and it's not something I've seen a need for among my clients. But I'd like to hear from a wider sampling of people.

A side note: The card cubby web site suggest you fill the cubby with cards and give it as a gift. If you like this idea, I'd like to suggest that you consider buying gift cards from local merchants instead of the big chains. Examples:

- You can get BookSense gift cards at many independent bookstores.

- I know my favorite carpet cleaner sells gift cards - a nice housewarming gift, perhaps, or a gift for people with kids and/or pets.

- There's a high-end grocery store near me that sells gift cards, both for the grocery store and the restaurant within the store.

Ohhh, pick me! I am one of those 'odd' women who hate lugging about a handbag. I think its a long term reaction to nappy (diaper) bags!
I have the smallest possible handbag that will fit my wallet, phone, PDA and keys. And that means I have the smallest wallet I can find. My wallet has my drivers' licence, ATM (bank/cash/hole-in-the-wall)card and cash. Oh, and 1/2 an emery board, 'cause that's all that'll fit, but you never know when you might need an emery board!
I do, however, as a symptom of modern life, have a billion other cards. Shopper loyalty cards, government issue cards, membership cards. I bought a business card wallet for them all. Holds about 40 cards - and it's full, and none of them are plain ol' business cards. It lives in my study, and occassionally I actually remember to take the cards I need with me when I go out.
Of course, even with a stylish accessory, I'd still have to remember to take the cards with me; but they'd look pretty while they were just sitting there.

I kind of like the idea, but I went to the website and personally I think they're way way over-priced. Again, nice idea as a gift with a gift card or two inside, but not for $25. If it were more like $10 now we're talking. Can't justify spending that much money, oh ye, plus S&H. Forget it. But that's me. Thanks,

I don't think I would use this, but I could see it helping someone who could maybe grab the whole thing before a shopping trip and then they would have every card they could possibly need. I like your suggestion of buying local cards for gifts.

I received a Card Cubby as a gift with a few nice gift cards in it. Day by day, I found myself digging the receipts from the bottomless pit called 'my purse'and filing them in the Cubby. Pretty soon all the ID's,ATM/Bank Cards,Insurance cards, frequent shopper discount cards made their way from my TOO BIG wallet(which I've eliminated completely!)into the Cubby. Everytime I have a Dr.'s appt, the appt card goes in the alphabetical file. I never even use my business card book anymore - they're filed neatly in my Cubby.I love the bright pink color!! I have since gifted my Mom and a few friends with Cubbie. At least I'm organized in ONE part of my life ...my purse!:) Great idea!

I think I'd like this product! I have a leather "envelope" in my purse that I keep my cards/coupons in and another for my receipts. The card one can get very full, and it can be hard to find what I'm looking for. I'm off to check out that website. Thanks for posting it.

The idea is terrific, and for those who don't want to spend, well, anything, I buy clear (they come in pink too!) plastic Globe-Weis Zip envelopes. They're about the size of a #10 envelope, but a bit taller, and they also fit larger store coupons. They cost about $2.50 at Office Depot or Staples.

Susan, thanks for pointing out another alternative. For anyone who wants to see what Susan is referring to, you can see the zip envelopes on the Globe-Weis web site (scroll down to the end).

Jeri,
Another use for this very nice looking product would be business cards for referrals. I work with a lot of professionals who belong to networking groups, and they like to give out a card when they give a referral. This would be a great looking solution to help out with that! Thanks for sharing it. :)

Brandie, that's a good idea. I use a more traditional business card holder to carry the cards of people I recommend, but I can see this working very well as an alternative.
