I Just Can't Resist a Good Magnet

magnet says Love who you are - and has gorgeous illustration of woman's face

Well, to be more accurate, I can't resist writing about a good magnet. And here's the first like to see amazing magnet I'd like to share.

Not your style? I've got more to show you. Here's one of the many tile magnet sets from Ellie at My Little Chickadee Creations.

Alice in Wonderland magnet set

Or how about some Alice in Wonderland magnets? This set is just one of the magnet selections from The Poppy Tree. Update on Sept. 6, 2010: It seems this Etsy shop no longer sells magnets.

And finally, as a new iPhone user, I was drawn to these app magnets. [via We Covet and Brandie Kajino]

I have a collection of metal Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars that I love, but have never found a good way to display. I didn't like wall boxes because you can't see them very well.

Anyhoo, I'm currently in the process of using velcro tabs and magnets to store and display them! I'm gluing spots of loop fabric to the magnets and hooks to the cars. This way I can attach the magnets to the cars to store them out of the way on the fridge, but I can also remove the magnets so we can still "drive" them around. :)

I also decorate Altoids boxes and attach magnets to them for handy little storage boxes to stick here and there.

Undead Molly: How clever! It's always nice to see a collection getting some attention and proper display - whatever "proper" means to the owner.

Two Rivers Soap Company: Glad you like them!

So um, how do you declutter magnet collections?

Good question, Anonymous! I usually find that large magnet collections include some that are no longer meaningful to the owner.

And you can follow the one-in, one-out principle on magnets as well as with anything else.

Unwanted magnets can be given away; they don't need to go in the trash. I've found new homes for some using Freecycle.
