Using the Memorabilia: Horse Show Ribbon Quilts

If you've been involved with horse shows and want to save at least some of those hard-earned ribbons, but aren't quite sure exactly what to do with them, a number of women have an answer for you: Get a quilt made.

The quilt above comes from Sarah Boudreau of Ribbon Quilts. Sarah also makes quilts from dog and cat show ribbons.

This is one of the many designs from Lani at Show Throws.

And finally, this one comes from Keepsake Ribbon Quilts. Gail makes pillows as well as quilts, as do many other of the quilt-makers.

Theresa, I'm glad about your t-shirt quilt; I hadn't known anyone who actually had one, and it's nice to know you are so pleased with yours.

Jessica, thank you for letting me know about the link; I've fixed that now.

  4. Brilliant!!!! My sister and I showed horses throughout our childhood and come from a family of quilters. What a brilliant idea. Thanks so much for posting it.

  5. I think this must be your most unusual helpful post! Quilts would work for prize ribbons from any activity -- for example, I've noticed that flower shows give ribbons. Very clever!

  7. My niece ice skates competitively, and the ribbons are piling up. This could work very well for her!

  8. Ice skating ribbons, flower show ribbon - sure, these quilt ideas could go way beyond horse show ribbons. Thanks to Cynthia and Louise for taking the original idea and expanding it!

  12. Great post. I used to do figure skating and got medals and/or little trophies instead of ribbons. I honestly forgot I had them back home in my parents' house.

I'm thinking of taking pictures of them and somehow getting rid of them. Any creative options?
